The 2019 Marcus Wallenberg Prize Announcement

2019 WWD event organizers had the honor of having Mr. Kaj Rosén, Executive Secretary of the Marcus Wallenberg Foundation, announce the 2019 Marcus Wallenberg Prize is awarded to Professor Gerhard Schickhofer, Institute of Timber Engineering and Wood Technology at Graz University of Technology, Austria, during the 2019 WWD Symposium.

The Marcus Wallenberg Foundation states that "the purpose of the Prize is to recognize, encourage and stimulate pathbreaking scientific achievements which contribute significantly to the broadening knowledge and to technical development within the fields of importance to forestry and forest industries." Mr. Joris van Acker, member of the Marcus Wallenberg Prize Selection Committee, briefly talks about the motivation of the selection and further achievements of Professor Schickhofer.

Professor Schickhofer is awarded the Prize for his scientific and technological research for the development of cross-laminated timber, CLT. Professor Schickhofer will be presented with the Prize of SEK 2 million in a ceremony in October by the HM the King of Sweden.
