The 3rd “Belt & Road" International Root Carving Cultural Exchange Week was held in Kaihua County from December 1-7, 2019. The event was organized by the International Wood Culture Society and the Kaihua County People's Government. The location root palace is best known as the base of root carving culture in China.
In response to the 2019 World Wood Day’s theme - Change, it is hoped that this international cultural exchange event will promote the inheritance and innovation of root carving art. 14 international artists from countries of Asia, Europe and Africa were invited.
Besides the international woodcarving program, exhibitions of calligraphy and finished carving works including the carvings from the Seri of Mexico were also shown to the public.
