The WWD 2019 Closing Ceremony was held at the iconic Congress Graz Stefaniensaal on Sunday, March 24, a perfect end for the seventh celebration of the event. The acknowledgement and congratulations messages were given by Austrians organisers and representatives of each program. With 90 countries and regions participants, 75 workshops and 10,000 visitors, the event successfully delivered this year theme “Change” in a variety of perspectives. No plastic waste policy at the event venue also corresponded to our theme.
The ceremony was concluded with an overview film produced by IWCS and the representative of 2019 WWD organisers, Dr. Michael Grabner handed the WWD cap to the board members of WWDF, Dr. Takao Itoh, from Japan, symbolising the carrying on of 2020 World Wood Day Tokyo. The ceremony was brought to a close by “Music of Wood: Austria and Beyond” concert and exhibition of artworks being created from 2019 WWD programs. Sincerest thanks and appreciation to the City of Graz, for the generous support and contribution to our farewell lunch.
