Hebei Feixiang: Shawuo Woodturning Enters the Campus
On March 23, Yuangu Middle School in Feixiang District, Hebei held an event themed "Millennium Wood Charm, Inheritance of Craftsmanship" in response to World Wood Day. Students, woodcraft enthusiasts and inheritors gathered to experience traditional craftsmanship and practice environmental protection through wood culture lectures, Shawo woodturning workshops and tree-planting activities.
Students learned about forest conservation and sustainable wood use, and listened to the 500-year history of Shawo woodturning. Li Zifan, a post-00s inheritor, demonstrated woodturning skills and guided participants in wood sanding and basic crafting.
At the end, teachers and students planted trees, hung tree plaques. The event brought intangible cultural heritage woodturning to campus, sowing the seeds of craftsmanship inheritance and ecological awareness in young people, so that the millennium wood culture can be passed on forever.
