World Wood Day 2026 Regional Event in Latvia
As part of the international World Wood Day celebrations, a regional event will take place at the Vienkoči Park Woodcraft Museum on March 21.
Activities from 11:00 to 18:00
- Exploring the Woodcraft Museum exhibition and learning about tree species from around the world
(13:00 guided tour led by the museum’s founder, Rihards Vidzickis)
- Conversations with guest master craftsmen
- Live craft demonstrations
- Artisan demonstrations:
- Woodcarving (Jānis Balodis)
- Traditional ski making, led by Rihards Valters
- Wood inlay workshop, led by Andris Roze
- Wooden spoon carving (Edgars Viņķelis)
- Tool sharpening (Mārcis Pētersons)
- Restoration of historic wooden windows (Inatra Briede)
- Guitar making (Oskars Grabovskis)
- Tool forging in the new Vienkoči Park smithy (Soeren Uhlmann)
During the event, visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase antique tools from English antique tool dealer Jussi Pekkonen.
