2019 WWD event organizers had the honor of having IAWS President Professor Robert Evans announce the International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS) Distinguished Service Award and its medal to Professor Gerd Wegener, School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan, Technical University of Munich, during the 2019 WWD Symposium at the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing on March 22, 2019. The Academy states "this award is made by IAWS in recogniztion of an individual has contributed distinguished service to any aspect of the broad field of wood science. Such service may have been made in any relevant research, educational, or leadership area that furthers the objectives of the Academy."
