The 2018 World Wood Day Celebration in Lao PDR was held on March 29-31 at the International Trade Exhibition and Convention Center (ITECC) in Vientiane Capital City.
Nearly 100 international artists from 20 countries and regions, along with local artists, musicians, folk artisans and entrepreneurs attended this speical cultural event. IWCS was honored to invite Mr. Phankham Viphavanh, Vice President of Lao PDR, and Mr. Sengnouane Xayalath, Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly to attend the opening ceremony, accompanied by ministers and head of all co-organizers, deputy ministers of equivalent organizations, and diplomats from international organization to Lao PDR. The Vice President of Lao PDR, Mr. Phankham Viphavanh, was invited to ring a traditional bell “Khong” to officially kick off the event.

World Wood Day is a cultural event celebrated annually during the week of March 21st to highlight wood as an eco-friendly and renewable biomaterial and to raise awareness on the key role wood plays in a sustainable world. Starting from 2013, WWD celebrations were held in Tanzania, China, Turkey, Nepal, and United States respectively, involving participants from over 100 countries and regions.
