E OHO! AWAKEN!

This piece is symbolic to the Maori People of New Zealand.  The RuRu (owl) is one of Maori sacred birds.  If this owl visit you at the night, it is a symbol of misfortune in your tribe or family.  In this sense the outer bark has been stripped revealing a RuRu (owl).  E OHO means to awaken.  Awaken to owl responsibilities as human beings to protect forests for future generations.  The hand on his mouth means to let your actions do the talking.
E OHO! E OHO! E OHO! AWAKEN! AWAKEN! AWAKEN!
