On March 21 World Wood Day, led by their teachers, students from Experimental Elementary School came to Children’s Discovery Museum in Yunhe, Zhejiang and walked into the world of wood carving art.
The theme of this practical activity is “Wood is Happy Too”. Through wood art appreciation and first-hand feeling and experience, let children understand wood, touch wood, and cultivate their awareness of environmental protection and care for the environment. What’s more, their views, attitudes and values towards wood, wood products and the ecological environment could be established.
This practical activity is organized by Yunhe Experimental Primary School of Zhejiang Province and UU Elephant,with the support of International Wood Culture Society and Mi Toys.
World Wood Day is a cultural event celebrated annually during the week of March 21st to highlight wood as an eco-friendly and renewable biomaterial and to raise awareness on the key role wood plays in a sustainable world. Starting from 2013, WWD celebrations were held in Tanzania, China, Turkey, Nepal, and United States respectively, involving participants from over 100 countries and regions.
