To convey the message of environmental conservation to the general public, a Tree Planting activity is held every year. This year, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal, planted a memorial tree outside the Nepal Academy to conclude the WWD opening ceremony on 21 March. On 26 March, honorable guests and 300 participants jointly planted 182 saplings of 23 wood species at the National Botanical Gardens, Godawari, Lalitpur.
World Wood Day is a cultural event celebrated annually during the week of March 21st to highlight wood as an eco-friendly and renewable biomaterial and to raise awareness on the key role wood plays in a sustainable world. Starting from 2013, WWD celebrations were held in Tanzania, China, Turkey, and Nepal respectively, involving participants from over 100 countries and regions.
