From March 24, 1976 to December 10, 1983, the last disastrous military, civic and ecclesiastical coup of State Terrorism took place in Argentina. Period where aberrant crimes against humanity are committed: kidnappings, disappearances, rapes, torture, persecution of people and appropriation of babies (most born in captivity). There are 30,000 missing souls and there are still more than 300 children of the disappeared to be recovered. In 1977, in the midst of a state of siege, with a society deceived by lying speeches and silenced by fear, a group of women, tired of knocking on the doors of different police stations and high-ranking offices and faced with indifference and no response, went out to the street to claim for their disappeared detained children and ask that they be returned alive: They are THE MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS OF PLAZA DE MAYO who, on that pilgrimage to the basilica of Luján, decide to identify themselves with a white handkerchief on their head to be able to group itself in the crowd. That first handkerchief was her children's cloth diaper. Today an emblematic symbol, recognized worldwide, in its peaceful struggle for more MEMORY, TRUTH AND JUSTICE and its uninterrupted marches every Thursday in the Plaza de Mayo in the city of Buenos Aires (CABA) From Plastic/Visual Art for the W.W.D.GEOVILLAGE project I choose to represent "LA CASITA DEL ABRAZO INFINITO" (construction with recycled and painted wood) as a tribute and thanks to the essential Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo for teaching us the path of their struggle and the demand for human rights. Know that love overcomes hate and that they are infinite. MEMORY is an exercise that we must practice and transmit daily from generation to generation so that State Terrorism NEVER AGAIN happens.

My "Ranchito" is a mobile/articulated object that is made with native woods from Argentina, some of them are recycled from old furniture and house structures. Measurements are variable.

A little house that shelters us, a little hut to take refuge. It grows from the mud to shelter us from the cold and does not touch the ground so as not to get wet feet. It disassembles into a thousand parts and reassembles again. Toys for some, realities for others. A little forest ranch with a roof of stars. Dream of those who walk barefoot: a little piece of land. A corner of the world and a door to open, a world to enter and another to build. From love, the time we inhabit: What we have to share.

At first we found it painful, in the house we left behind many things, the ashes were just ashes, the furniture and our most precious possessions left their corporeality to become this volatile grayish dust.

In our skin we had impregnated that smell, the smell of smoke, which prevails for days and weeks. We just left, everything we had was gone, the material was an illusion and the only thing we had to worry about was our psychological well-being.

That fire that burned many of us, that forced us to readjust, to focus on what is truly important, family and relationships.

The house was built with wood from disassembled pallets, cut in different sizes and directions. Each was painted with crayons and fibers, then joined with hinges. This union allows the mobility of the pallets giving different forms of location to the series of houses. This work is accompanied by a flower bed made with small clay bricks and cement. This flower bed represents in a symbolic way, the flower bed that was in the yard of my childhood home.

Every house is a world, a window to the world. We know that there is a universal symbol to represent a house, "Take a triangle, place it on the upper edge of a square and you will have a house". There is also in reality, the economy, which allows us to build a house with different materials, cement, bricks, sheet metal, wood, etc., materials that will make the house a luxurious or humble space, comfortable or uncomfortable, big or small, but many times, the people who live in that space know that, for a house to be a HOME, it not only has to do with the quality, but also with the relationships and bonds that are forged there, the moments lived, those that are shared and the obstacles that are overcome there. Each house is a world, a window to the world, a look outside, a door to the inside, going out. To go out slowly, to run out. A house with a backdrop, to spend childhood. To go back through our houses that were once. To make memory of each space and remember. There can be many houses, made in many ways. Even so, I believe that beyond the materiality, all houses should have a space where to spend childhood, where to step on firm ground, where to balance, a step where to play to take the first jump. If I think back, I always go back to my childhood home, to its courtyard, with its flower bed, where I learned to ride a bicycle. I used to climb on the flower bed to reach the bicycle, and balancing I would push myself by putting one foot on it, otherwise I would not have been able to get on it because the bike was too big for the age I was. Every house should be a place that invites us to grow, so that when we grow up, if everything falls apart or things get difficult, we can remember and rebalance to make that jump again, or push ourselves to continue. My refuge in my childhood was undoubtedly my house, but particularly that flower bed where I learned to ride a bike and where I played at balancing. For this reason the theme of the houses was drawn as if it had been done by the child I was.

The theme selected for the construction of the houses is about the houses of the war, those of the past and those of the present. When disassembling the pallets I decided to leave the nails as a symbolic way to represent the war. That is to say, the nails go through the wood as the war goes through the houses. I am very pleased to participate in this call, from whose invitation I ask myself what this space, the house, means to me. That place of my own, which is built every day from the inside and which opens outwards, which grows with the experiences that we gather, a space where we can believe and create something; a little ranch for which I am grateful and which is a right that each and every one of us has. Made with mostly recycled wood, cut into rods, looking for a construction upwards in floors, layers, in parts, up to its highest point of two centimetres past the metre.

September 21^st is a work that is attached to the commemoration of HEALTH DAY, which shows the home side of the hospital. First for the health workers, who decide to study, to prepare themselves to be health personnel, which is a very demanding profession because in the residencies, the hospital becomes your home, where you spend more than 24, 48, 52 hours in a row, where you spend your birthdays, where you share the Christmas table, New Year, with others who chose the same path and lifestyle. Being health personnel and turning the hospital into your home is a free decision made by those of us who work there; but... the situation is not the same for the patients, who do not decide to stay in the hospital, but are so affected by the situation that sometimes it is the only option, to stay in the hospital, and for many of them it is the last thing they will do on this earthly plane. For these reasons and many more that I cannot describe in words, I wanted to share my little wooden house from the home side of the hospital, because I long for every patient to feel at home, loved and healed. And that each health professional prioritises their work in the hospital in any situation, that in each one the profession becomes a vocation. There is no health care without professionals, there is no health care without patients, we are all part of it.
I am Elías, a student in the 4th year of the Visual Arts faculty at the Manuel Belgrano School in the City of Buenos Aires. Thanks a lot.

The house the dictators build

My house is made up from drift wood taken from Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, in Buenos Aires. That place grew from a failed project from the last dictatorship in Argentina. Thousands of homes were demolished to build a system of freeways in the heart of the capital city and the remains were thrown in the river with the idea of setting the foundations of a judicial district that never came true. The beach in the reserve is filled with the remains of those houses and the wood the river deposit there is the material I have used for my project. For me, this washed out wood, so similar to bones, is also a reminder of that other activity the last dictatorship did to the people they said to protect. 30.000 people disappear during those obscure days. Some thrown to the ocean never to be heard from again.

The plant from which I took the wood has always been a part of my patio and I could see it from my room. Few months ago we had to prune it and now the wall is empty. The vine has always been part of my house, it grew from the patio up to the window of my room on the second floor. Once the vine was removed from the wall, I felt the need to do something with the branches that we took out and it occurred to me to make this house, which is also a way to remember the value that the vine once had in my house.

This work was made with recycled wood that I found in the street. The base wood had drawings in pencil, which I tried to revive and painted with acrylics, to somehow finish the intention of the person who drew them and give it an artistic purpose, which surely we would have shared. The idea is to generate movement and lightness in the joints, that's why I used a transparent tie that contains air between parts of the assembly.

The material is based on the Tao Te Ching, 11: “We join spokes together in a wheel, but it is the center hole that makes the wagon move. The house is open and it's empty, but it’s the joyful movement of the air inside and out which makes it habitable: a home.

But in the same way gives us what it has and shares life, its life, that what carries inside, what the eyes couldn't see. Does it matter then, the amount of floors? The materials? The type of paint?

It is an evocation of the time in my life when, on starting secondary school, I received proper art lessons for the first time. I was particularly taken with the point perspective technique; reveling in its simplicity and precision. This house looks back at me, on the cusp of my teenage years, when art became something more than just crayons and markers, and slapping paint about.
