As the closing event of World Wood Day 2025 Japan, the Grand Exhibition was held at Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple in Tokyo.
This video takes viewers through the exhibition, where woodcraft, woodcarving, furniture, woodblock prints, and traditional crafts made by participants from around the world came together in one place, highlighting the cultural exchange and creative possibilities inspired by wood.
The year 2025 was especially meaningful, as World Wood Day Japan took place in the same year as Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. At the Expo venue, many buildings and exhibitions also featured wood and sustainability, closely echoing the spirit of World Wood Day. From October 7 to 9, the “Wood Culture Music Festival” was also held at the Expo site, offering a valuable opportunity to share wood culture with a wider audience.
Through a variety of works, including Inami woodcarving, international woodworking exchanges, animal-themed wood sculptures, Taiwanese glove puppetry, karakuri automata, and Seri's ironwood carvings, this video explores the expressive power of wood and the value of craftsmanship created by human hands.
More than simply presenting the finished works, the video highlights the time, skill, dedication, and creative process behind them, showing the deep connection between people and wood.
