I am Henry Villalobos, from Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I started at 25 to discover my natural art skills and vocation. My development was and is at my atelier since I am a self-taught artist. Me as sculptor, I think and feel that I can recover part of the damage caused by indiscriminate woods' cut down since forests with invaluable trees for future generations were destroyed.
To elaborate my art pieces I collect wood highly damaged and devastated by fire that provides special shapes and forms which among my tools and inspiration become into unique designs. Woman figure is the main source of inspiration due her peculiar characteristics of strength, movement, equilibrium, sensuality that I combine by the use of other materials like metal strings, stones, barbed wire, resin, etc. However I do work with animal figures and masks as well.
